The Preacher’s Wife: Episode # 1: We Enjoy Our Little Paradise

Susan: Take me to the church!
Stephen: I want to, can’t we enjoy our little paradise while we can’t go to the church?
Susan: I never thought you’ll be ever brave enough to say my lines.
Stephen: Honey, I complete your sentences.
Susan: It’s like you are stuck, you don’t want to move.
Stephen: I’m a preacher love, we guys barely get to celebrate anything. Now you’ve seen pastor’s kids right? So I hope the brainchild I invest in will fruit in the future and make me rich.
Susan: You don’t need money, you are rich in faith.
Stephen: That’s not enough to afford a marriage ceremony, I don’t even know how many guests are we inviting.
Susan: It just takes the two of us to make magic
Stephen: Then tell me, do you have a solution to my problems
Susan: Our problems
Stephen: Alright, our problems
Susan: Well, this is what I’m here to do. Stay close, you’ll get all the love you want
Stephen: We preachers are loved by God, what is it that you can’t give us and God can’t?
Susan: If I’ll say it, you won’t like it, cause you know God doesn’t have it
Stephen: Then how God has the most beautiful piece of music and art placed right in the universe where I live?
Susan: God can give you closeness, not the touch.
Stephen: God touches the heart honey, not the skin, that’s how God lives in all of us.
Susan: You preachers can’t remain quiet on God for two seconds, you pull the fun out of it.
Stephen: Why do you have to be dirty everywhere you can be dirty in the bed.
Susan: No-no. These aren’t the characters of a man that I fell in love with.
Stephen: Don’t close your eyes and say that, it feels like the sunlight has disappeared
Susan: Then look into my eyes and tell me you love me
Stephen: If I love God it is because he made you cause I can’t love God for just making me, that’ll be too selfish
Susan: How does God jumps in between us? Can’t you just keep your big buddy out of it?
Stephen: God gave me love honey, God gave me you. How can I keep him out of us?
Susan: I hate your God
Stephen: That can’t make him stop loving you. Or make me stop loving you. The more you hate God only means the more we need him. And I need your face right in front of me, with your arms open wide, breathing air from my air, so I can know that God loves me. I asked God for his mercy and heaven, he showed me your face.
Susan: Sometimes, I feel like I’m a third wheel betwen you and your God, why can’t you be romantic and forget that you are a preacher?
Stephen: My romance with you will not last, if I’ll not give my faith a chance. We preachers are looking excuses to remember God, call him more into our memories, our discussions. It gives us faith, and sometimes, beautiful life partners too.
Susan: Alright, let’s talk about your faith cause you do not look like in the mood for romance. If this goes on, I”m eventually going to stop wearing make up and lispstick.
Stephen: Ahan… and how would my church look without weather paint and candlelights?
Susan: Shut up! So how’s your preaching going?
Stephen: Just as always. Give the message of God to the people, wish upon them peace, call them to Christianity and embrace the light of the cross. What more can you do. Cause eventually, you gotta leave something to the magic of Gospel.
Susan: But you live in place where not all are Christians, do people of other faith also come to your church?
Stephen: When you are preaching faith, the willingness is not running just from you to the people but from people to you as well. All those who come to church are like people racing in a sperm chase for eggs. Those whose soul is rich find their fertility, others drop away.
Susan: What do your fellow priests have have to say?
Stephen: I can’t relate to everyone. Some say my methods of preaching are right, some say they are not. If I’ll listen to everybody how will I preach with a clear conscious? God tells us to preach, not how we preach. I just hope for the best to carry out this duty, so it gives enough to my faith, from my faith to me, and to all the people who come to witness the sermons. God gave us a wide open universe with signs all around us. People live away from God’s spirit, the spirits don’t.
Susan: why doesn’t God shows signs that people can actually believe?
Stephen: If God wanted, everyone would have been born with God’s name etched on their bare chests. It is not so, which only indicates that it is not rather on the skin, but rather inside the cage. God created us in his image, and body is just a word. We are born with God’s given body, and soul. Our bodies are like a name to him, and so is the shape of all the other creatures. Who knows humans better than God that created them? God did not create our bodies in his image, but our souls. If we looked liked God, we’ve all called ourselves God, no one’s ever seen God so we can’t. The holy spirit, is a stamp of God’s love upon every human being and those who he loves are always filled by the spirit.
Susan: How do I manage to get you talking about God… and not me, every time?
Stephen: I see you, reminds me of God’s graces, there must be many many, but it is you that I’m most thankful for.
Susan: I am proud you think that.
Stephen: I believe that.
Susan: I can’t wait to marry you, you are a preacher, not a missionary, when will your mission be completed?
Stephen: I don’t have to marry you to be missionary, and I don’t have to be a missionary to marry you.
Susan: I hope there was romance somewhere in there.
Stephen: I have faith in God. I know it is not enough. But how have we ever known what’s best for us? God will bring us a spring, we’ll truly cherish.
Susan: Your God always keeps us waiting. I run out of patience sometimes and you are not there to hear me scream it out.
Stephen: I don’t love you just for your face, your love, I also love you for your stength. I know, God’s never enough in this world. I dance in doubts too. It completely breaks me sometimes. Those who are loved by God are subject to more struggles of life than those not near to him. God only tests us in this world to never abandon us in eternity. And all the lovely bodies that we hold dear in the world, God also promises their care as well.
Susan: So many virtues you earn by preaching, for you and me. Do we but need virtues. We need each other. We need give each other more time.
Stephen: What does it mean when two people are feeling lonely at the same time? When God makes two people alone for each other, no company can take away the feeling that you keep missing. When you are not there, and I’m out in the jungle preaching the word of God, I can’t help but miss God, and sometimes, you come through, the same feeling. when we miss love, God’s there to take away our pain, and what is love but taking away the pain.
Susan: You are so wrong. Loving is more than taking away the pain.
Stephen: Yes, loving is giving and taking away the pain.
Susan: Why God puts us in pain?
Stephen: Of all the times when I say God knows best, this is where it actually means something.
Susan: Anyways, I don’t want to put more pressure on you
Stephen: All those years of rejections, people have refused to listen to me or even give way. I learned that God has prepared us all for purposes that we are destined to carry out. There’s good pressure, there’s bad pressure, and you are the pressure that I can always use.
Susan: We’ve only been driven away by these feelings, never had we once a chance to share, what we want for each other.
Stephen: That’s why I’ve always wanted God for you more than myself, God is the best thing, the best gift that one can give another.
Susan: Makes me wanna hate God a little less.
Stephen: If you are going to marry are preacher, you are going to get God anyway. It’s a package deal.
Susan: You are a naughty, dirty, bad bad preacher.
Stephen: Only for saying good things, and only you say it softly.
Susan: Oh people are so rude.
Stephen: Not all of them honey, some have God’s light in them. It is the devil that’s peeking through their eyes, those who live hate live in them that makes them say bad things about God’s message. And so inside us live mighty and merciful angels, to face them all.
Susan: Alright, I have to go now. How about a sweet kiss?
Stephen: Stand as my witness God, I’m only following a lover’s life format.
