Ghosts of Future Past

A man entered church and took his muslim friend with him. The muslim guy had so many doubts about it, going to church. The christian saw his doubts and said, “whichever God you pray, you can remember him anywhere, I would go to mosque and kneel to the dome where imam sits and performs sermon, but I’ll be not allowed to draw a crufix on my chest, shoulders and pray, so I don’t. In any house of God, you shouldn’t be forbidden to pray, irrelative to what you pray to.”

The muslim guy walked with him up to the cross, the christian kneeled before cross and started praying with his hands joined together. The muslim left and sat on one of the benches, and raised his hands as muslims do in their manner, closed his eyes, opened his heart and started praying, “dear God, you guide people where you guide, forgive those venture out looking for your light and get lost. Then forgive me if I couldn’t go to a mosque to pray, because I go everywhere with the friend I know, the cross on his chest bars him from entering the mosque, so I had to come to the church to pray. Just like he prays, am I not your christian? So have mercy, I pray, am I not your momin? So have mercy. Have mercy on all those of pure heart and purify heart of evil-doers from the curse of evil. Ameen!” As he said ameen, he heard amen from the christian, who got up and walked up to him and sat beside him.

“Can’t you become christian so we can pray and sing together?”
“My friend, I am already a christian. Any blessed house of God is house of my prayer, we believe in the same holy spirit.”
“You know, you are one of those rare gentiles, because there are so many ajmis, you peeked through your texts and saw more than arabic, you saw the language that’s human.”
“Thank you my friend for this honor.”
“You know, I don’t see a muslim in you, I see a momin, and momin has no definition that world can give. I’m a little momin too sometimes, when I’m near you, but faith freedom tells me, I am better off in my shoes.”
“Only you tend to see the crescent in me, otherwise, I don’t live in symbols.”
“Live in my thoughts, that’s the best place I can provide for you, the world’s not good enough.”
“I, only live in the thoughts of those, who seek.”
“Will you not invite me to your faith?”
“Cause you invited me to the church? No, I know where you are happy, and it makes me happy where you are happy.”
“Are you even material? Cause sometimes it feels like you are a phantom and I can literally see through you.”
“It is because I am not the person that came out from the book, I am a friend that came out from seeking, and I walk with my friends to the end. You thought I was a muslim? It is where I focus, I find my God, for God is peace, and peace I receive. I am the one with no followers brother, and if you are told that I have followers, you are told a lie.”
“I can see, you are filled with holy spirit, it is true, the holy spirit never differentiates between faith of men, but follows them to their character, if the character is good, then any faith can speak from inside of any person. It is not Islam that you speak, it is something else.”
“You are right. Sometimes, you want to pray for yourself but end up praying for others, I think that’s what you call holy spirit, and its effect when you are filled with it.”
“Holy spirit is not in you or me, it is sometimes between us, connects us. Holy spirit is always one, when our divisions dissolve, we feel its vibrancy.”
“Do know momin is just another word for faithful. A christian may be faithful, a faithful may not be christian, a muslim may be momin, a momin may not be muslim. When you believe, you receive, truth you conceive.”
“On the funny note, I can could say this is all happening to you because you are sitting in a church.”
“Then I will not deny, the source of my joy.”
“I keep saying, you are a rare spirit. I wish we had likes of you in the christian world.”
“Then who will guide you as your outsider? I’m a spirit that’s only crescent for you, for I in my friendship, am always loyal.”
“You let me see, my friend, and I see myself. I pray to God, that there may arise more of your kind, your spirits, people like I could always use.”
“I am just a moral spirit, you needed me to be here, I answered your questions. I entered as a muslim, became a momin, and then nothing, what else do you want me to become for you?”
“Anything but christian.”
“That’s because you need me when christianity can’t give you all the answers.”
“Well, I’m glad I brought a crescent to the church. I could frame you and nail you on the wall like you are a picture. In the museum of faith, rare species like you always deserve a mention.”
“Your willingness to take home with you, the good things of faith, makes spirits like me, always available, to guide you where you need help.”
“I need to go to another country, can you help me with money?”
“I can only help you with knowledge, and as much of it as you want. Knowledge of the past, the deeds, become power of the future. Could I be your past?”
“Yes, because before I was a christian, I was a little something arabic, but I wasn’t arabic, I was crescent.”
“Why did you leave the crescent?”
“I left my past, never my past tale cause you are still here with me. humans evolved, lost their tail, but they remembered by looking back at other species, the story of their evolution. I need to learn, I learned, and still here I am, trying to learn from my past.”
“Then I am your past, and in your story I will last, I will try my best to make your universe vast.”
“If I am your future, what is that you have to learn from me? You see the christian in front of you, and now that you see the mirror of time, what do you learn?”
“I learn, that we can always be happy in the present, but saving some happiness for the future pays, perhaps that’s why some suffer and work for their heaven. We dream to go to heaven, and dreams are future, we work for it, that they may come true. I feel like I want to give all my happiness to you, but I see why can’t you receive all of it, cause I also took a little happiness for me.”
“I took a little happiness from you, now, here, so I took from my future. This is never to end.”
“Who knows.”
“Tell me, how can I become a better christian?”
“Become more creative.”
“I’ll try that.”
